Da-le! A photographic exhibition and book launch by Mark Wojcik 16-24 Feb 2019

‘Da-le!’ invites you on a journey through the jungles, townships and high plains of South & Central America. Shot primarily on 35mm film over a 9-month period, the photo exhibition and photobook chronicle the diversity in landscapes, people & experiences to be discovered in Latin America. ‘Da-le’ (pronounced /dä.le/) is a colloquial term used in parts of the continent. It has several meanings, including one of encouraging someone to do something, roughly translating to ‘do it!’ or ‘go for it!’. It’s used liberally and has a real positive sentiment attached. A fitting word to encourage us to explore and interact with our world - be it down the street or across the globe. Mark Wojcik (Husk) is a Newcastle-based creative working across a range of media, including film photography. His desire is to “bottle up the intangible moments of life.” Previously, he was a part of the 2hrsnorth photobook series & exhibition documenting the suburbs of Newcastle (2014-15), and has featured in Sprawlers, a local skateboarding & arts magazine (2016-18).
